Exclusive Darwinia Modding Info!
After seeing how interested people were in the modding aspect of Darwinia on the Official Forums, I had a word with Chris, and he has given me permission to release some information on Darwinia's modding system!

First off, the game comes with a full integrated Map Editor. This is what Introversion used to make all of the levels in Darwinia, so you can do pretty much anything you'll ever need to do with it. You can create single levels, or full campaigns like the full game. It's also pretty easy to use too, so you shouldn't have too much trouble getting into it. Anything you want to add can be dropped straight into your level, and then you can switch directly from the editor back to game mode and test it right away.
There is a catch however - In order to unlock the editor, you need to finish the main game first! This might be bad news for some of you, but the way I see it, you shouldn't be making a mod for a game unless you've actually finished the game first anyway, so there you go.
The game also features a scripting language, and although it isn't fantasticly large, it does allow you to do some very cool things.
Everything else is pretty flexible too - you can add or replace things to your hearts content!

Still, there are some things you can't do with the editor just yet. However, Chris has said on numerous occasions that modding is something he thinks will be very important to Darwinia, and will hopefully continue to expand on the game's modding system.

So, now you know! All you people planning on making your own map editors can now calm down!

Much like Modlink did for Uplink, TheNextGame will be hosting any and all Darwinia mods and files, so be sure to check back once the game is released and check them out!
